The government receives an upfront payment of Rs 182.67 billion from 2G spectrum winners

The government has received upfront payments worth Rs 182.67 billion from operators who won spectrum in the auction concluded in February 2014.
The operators including Vodafone India, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Idea Cellular, Telewings Communication (Uninor), Reliance Communications and Aircel had the option of making payments for the spectrum won in installments.
Operators which won spectrum in the 1800 MHz and the 900 MHz band had the option of making 33 per cent and 23 per cent of the total payments in installments. These operators have the option of paying the remaining amount in yearly installments after two years along with 10 per cent interest.
